Social Innovation Discovery Quest

Bridging university excellence with future career readiness.

Brought to students by HealthyKids Hong Kong, the Community Partner of the HKU Faculty of Social Sciences Social Innovation and Global Citizenship Programme.

🌐What is SIGC?

The Social Innovation and Global Citizenship Programme is an initiative under the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Hong Kong. It is designed to transform top-tier university undergraduates into agile global leaders through real-world problem solving, entrepreneurial execution and leadership development.

HealthyKids brings this university-standard ecosystem discovery quest directly to secondary school students.

🌍Why start before university?

The modern career landscape demands more than textbook knowledge. By experiencing the framework that prepares HKU undergraduates for the global economy, students can better understand their own strengths, interests and future career path.

The programme lets students step out of the classroom and into the world, exploring entrepreneurship, social enterprise and global leadership.

Two-Phase Programme

From Discovery Day to workplace exposure.

Phase One builds the foundation and screening pathway; Phase Two gives selected students structured exposure to real workplace environments.

1

Phase One: HealthyKids Discovery Day

A highly interactive 3-hour experience at Healthy Kids headquarters. Students are guided by senior HKU student mentors to practise critical thinking, develop social enterprise ideas and deliver team pitches on the spot.

Important note: Participation in Phase One Discovery Day is a required screening step for students who wish to apply for the formal Job Shadowing places.

2

Phase Two: Job Shadowing Experience

Selected students join a one-day immersive experience during normal office hours to understand the modern workplace in a structured way. Students rotate across departments, complete meaningful tasks and observe how leadership is practised at work.

Outstanding performers may extend their one-day experience into a 2- to 3-day or one-week summer track, opening pathways to scholarship and paid opportunities.

Why It Matters
